Search engine Google has announced a new application for mobile devices, which could prove to be another huge success for the giants. A voice activated search application is said to be the next big thing for mobile internet. It will provide a faster way to request search results, as the user will not have to type anything in themselves and access will be available on every handset, decreasing the need for people to buy new handsets for this new technology.
The voice recognition can understand various accents and languages, such as Chinese, Indian English and Hindi. This capability can also be combined with its location awareness, giving faster results which are more likely to be relevant. An industry expert said: “Google could command dominance by making the need to type redundant, which cuts out the frustration users of a 12 button phone experience when accessing the internet.”
Google recognised that there is a constant need for better mobile search capabilities, so the launch of the voice search will keep them ahead of competitors. Recent statistics have shown that people living in densely populated countries like India and China, use their mobile phone’s more than they use computers when they want to access information. So the search engine want to beat others like Apple, Nokia and a new Chinese search engine called Baidu.
Baidu is a search engine which is soon to launch mobile search application, which will be installed into new handsets in order to try and outrival Google.
