Unique Sitelink Policy being Enforced

Google have just advised that they will begin to more rigorously check that each Sitelink has a unique destination URL.

Whilst this has been Google’s Sitelink Policy for a while, we have noticed more Sitelinks which take users to the same page and same content.

The plan on the surface of it is that Google will automatically detect any NEW or EDITED Sitelinks.

Google state “as your ads are being served, our systems will verify that your Sitelinks meet the policy standards”

So expect to modify any Sitelinks which don’t comply.

Google have kindly given us a few months to make these changes as they realise they’ve kind of opened a can of worms here, certainly depending the scale of the account and campaigns there could be a significant number of changes to be made.

I’d recommend starting this task sooner rather than later!
