Business Development Manager+

VL Digital requires a Business Development Manager for the generation and development of both inbound and outbound new business opportunities across the three brands operating under the VL Digital name, Vertical Leap (SEO and PPC), Red Rocket Media (social media and content marketing) and Brightpath (creative and marketing strategy).

The successful candidate will be consummate and credible sales professional selling sophisticated on-line marketing services to Marketing Directors and Managing Directors.

The role is focussed purely on new business and is suited to people who are ‘sales hungry’ and who can exploit their exceptional sales skills with effective and successful results.

  • Reporting to:  Sales Director
  • External relationships:  SME clients to director level on both marketing and technical teams
  • Internal relationships: Senior Management, Account Management team, Delivery teams, Marketing, Finance and Administration
  • Salary: competitive plus uncapped commission
  • Hours:  40 per week
  • Location: Portsmouth or London

Main duties of the post:

  • You will develop new business relationships, generate and negotiate new income for VL Digital to an agreed monthly target of invoiced revenue
  • Presenting the three brands to potential clients through direct communication in face to face meetings, telephone calls and emails
  • Responsible for your own lead generation and appointment setting
  • Actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; close; handover to the delivery management team
  • Possess drive, motivation and acute attention to detail in ensuring all sales opportunities are captured and explored
  • You will have individual responsibility for new business, and are expected to self-manage, however, you will be part of a growing team of people with the same job title. Support is available by the sales director for complex large pitches and strategies
  • As a representative of VL Digital at industry events and tradeshows, your professional manner and polished appearance will aid your intention of gaining new business leads and contacts
  • Managing and maintaining a pipeline and ensuring all sales administration is current our in house CRM software
  • Create and be accountable for all client proposals, contracts and any further documentation, following our procedures
  • A thorough understanding of clients marketing objectives including their Return On Investment (ROI) objectives
  • Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner
  • You will effectively interact with other departments including the account management and technical team when handing over campaigns ensuring you fully and correctly brief in all aspects of the sale.

Campaign Delivery Manager (SEO Specialist)+


An ideal position for a cool, calm and collected individual who thrives on being at the centre of a fast moving and varied business.

The role: Managing a portfolio of new and existing search engine marketing campaigns that are based on annual contracts and ensuring that they are delivered to a very high standard, this is a varied, absorbing and rewarding position. Essentially, you would be managing the technicians making the actual optimisation changes, but you’ll also be liaising with Campaign Account Managers and occasionally direct with clients.

About you: You’ll be strong in project management and be adept at juggling a large number of tasks at once. Your communications skills will be excellent, both in a client-facing capacity and in written English. You’ll have a firm technical understanding of the Internet, its various technologies and especially HTML. Experience of search engine optimisation would be a definite plus.

This position also includes the following core responsibilities:

  • Manage organic optimisation projects from strategy through implementation with no hand-holding.
  • Coordinate all campaign activities relating to SEO with our technical team including SEO, Off-Page Optimisers, and Web Developers
  • Analyze customer Web sites and provide well-defined strategies for search engine improvement.
  • Leverage skills in search engine writing to improve effectiveness of site content.
  • Monitor search engine results, analyze key Web site metrics, and provide recommendations and strategies for continued improvement.
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to a growing team of passionate search engine marketers.
  • Monitor algorithmic changes in the search engines to determine when and how to adapt our proven delivery methodology.
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships through face-to-face meetings, frequent conference calls, and presentations.
  • Exceed client expectations and performance goals on a daily basis.

Additional Required Experience:

  • Must have proven experience delivering results through ethical search engine optimisation techniques
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong understanding of search engine-friendly Web site design and ability to make critical design and technical recommendations to Web developers
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects

Campaign Delivery Manager (Pay Per Click Specialist)+


We are looking for bright, ambitious PPC (pay per click) specialists to manage the delivery of pay per click (PPC) marketing campaigns.  You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of new and existing campaigns and in ensuring that they are delivered to the highest standard.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Manage PPC (pay per click) projects from strategy through implementation.
  • Coordinate campaign activities relating to PPC (pay per click) with the landing page design team
  • Monitor results, analyze key Web site metrics, and provide recommendations and strategies for continued improvement
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships.
  • Exceed client expectations and performance goals on a daily basis.

Person specification:

  • 2-4 years agency (multi-campaign) PPC/Adwords experience.
  • Google Adwords Certification – required.  Other platforms (e.g. Microsoft adCenter) a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • A good understanding of internet technology especially HTML
  • Sense of humour
